Good morning! "Upstairs" is back for 2012! (Until the Mayan Apocalypse, of course...) I'll see if I can keep posting every few days, for anybody who's interested. So, how best to re-kick things off...
As a long-time consumer of DJ mixes, I keep an eye out for mixes by certain artists, and one of the most interesting is a guy who calls himself Strictly Kev, or sometimes DJ Food. He's part of the Ninja Tune universe, a regular contributor to the Solid Steel radio show, and occasionally he posts mixes on Soundcloud that reflect some of his enthusiasms.
Last year, he put up a mix called "'88 Was Great But '89 Is Mine" - all tracks released in 1989, which is about the time I was first really getting into hip-hop. Seems like a good recommendation to start the ball rolling again on this thing... You can download it for free from Soundcloud, so if this is your kind of thing, download and enjoy!
